Our search for a great family pet brought us to the wonderful world of Chinooks. We were not necessarily looking for a sled dog or a rare breed or a membership in a dog community. Yet, there we were, finding the same answer on many online "What's the perfect pet for you?" quizzes...THE CHINOOK! The more we learned about this fascinating breed, the more involved we wanted to be in everything Chinook.
Chinook owners and breeders alike welcomed us into their close knit "community" and we were hooked! We welcomed home our first Chinook in 2002 and as they say, like the potato chips, you can't have just one! In 2006, our second Chinook was a Christmas surprise!
The Chinook community have given us great opportunities to dip our toes in the many adventures on which a Chinook can take you. Tioga is showing great promise in harness and in the show ring thanks to the excellent tutelage of our friends and mentors at GreatMountain, Callicoon and Bashaba Chinooks.
We owe a great deal of thanks to Bob and Connie Jones of WoodsRunner Chinooks, for introducing us to this noble breed. By entrusting us with Dakota, they opened up the wonderful world of Chinooks to us. We are forever grateful.
We are located in the beautiful Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. Aside from our dogs Dakota and Tioga, we share our lives with our three children, Morgan, Daniel and Sophie.
Our Kennel name: As a busy mother of three, "quiet" is a precious commodity. It is in the still hours of the morning, when it is just my cup of coffee and my dogs and me, that I find renewed energy to start each day fresh and inspired. Dakota and Tioga begin their day the moment they hear a rustle in the covers of the bed. They are full of joy and ready to play, bounding to the back door to be the first to smell the dew, see the snow or chase the newly fallen leaves. As soon as our morning routine is done, they settle in, sensing the specialness of this time we have together. It is our bonding time, where in the silence of the sunrise we read each others thoughts. I chose the name because in our home each day breaks anew with wagging tails, and licking tongues and happy dogs that give you a million reasons to become a morning person.
